AMELA ABDOVIC

Amela Abdovic was born in Sarajevo, Bosnia, and has since lived around the world in Slovenia, Belgium and Italy, before finally settling in Toronto.  She is a true global citizen with her studies taking her all the way to Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai China when she completed her MBA from the Ivey School of Business. With these experiences bringing her into contact with people from all backgrounds and cultures, Amela has developed a well-honed skill set that allows her to understand and empathize with those she interacts with, contributing to her successes as a banking professional. 

Leveraging her ability to understand multiple perspectives and connect meaningfully with those around her, Amela has progressively advanced in her career as a business professional in the financial industry. Her 17 + year experience has been crucial to her intact ability to successfully collaborate with business partners across multiple businesses and initiatives, enabling her to drive results, while maintaining and building strong and lasting relationships.

In addition to her extensive financial industry experience, Amela is profoundly passionate about giving back to the community, and those she interacts with. From helping newcomers with financial literacy to motivating women with desires to lead and leap up, she keeps herself occupied making an impact at every opportunity.

Amela personally understands the importance of RGW's mission.  Amela was also a refugee girl from Sarajevo Bosnia, who thrived through opportunities extended to her from like organizations during the war in Bosnia when she was displaced and separated from her family.  Her burning desire to pay it forward has inspired the act of commitment to help RGW raise awareness for refugee girls around the world to provide quality education, food, protection, and opportunity for a brighter tomorrow.
