 EMPOW(HER): IMPROVING REFUGEE WOMEN & GIRLS ACCESS TO MATERNAL, SEXUAL, & REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH SERVICES.

 The overall goal of the project is to ensure that refugee women and young girls have access to accurate information in their mother tongue. The success of the project; increasing awareness of women and young girls about sexual and reproductive health, decreasing marriages at an early age as a result of workshops with young girls, and raising healthy children of parents.

Women, pregnant women, adolescent girls, and newborns are direct beneficiaries of this project. Beneficiaries are selected by the social workers as a result of the interviews and field visits. Women between the ages of 18-25 are given priority because they are not very experienced in maternity and sexual health issues, they have limited access to information on related issues in their mother tongue, and resources to access the information they need are limited

The outcome of the Project

  • 80 pregnant women and/or mothers with kids aged below 1 will get coaching for baby care,

  • 100 women will attend seminars about sexual & reproductive health,

  • 100 young girls will attend seminars about adolescence & sexuality&violence,

  • 40 women and girls will receive self-defense training.
